Sabrina Carpenter Has the Perfect Response to People Who ‘Complain’ About Her Performances

I think it’s safe to say it’s officially Sabrina Carpenter’s world and we’re all just living in it.
The superstar has claimed two consecutive summers now thanks to her gloriously fun and flirty pop sound and undoubtedly on-brand style, and she’s only getting more comfortable in her public persona. Recently, she sat down with Rolling Stone for an incredible interview to go along with her sultry cover shot, which saw her wearing nothing but white thigh-high stockings and some radiant Rapunzel-length hair.

During the interview, Carpenter chatted about her upcoming album Man’s Best Friend, which has already caused quite a stir online thanks to some controversy around the message behind its cover image. She also opened up about her reaction to the backlash around some of her more risqué live performance moments. One such moment is, of course, the viral “Juno” pose she changes during each show.
“It’s always so funny to me when people complain,” Carpenter told Rolling Stone. “They’re like, ‘All she does is sing about [sex],’ but those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly you love sex. You’re obsessed with it. It’s in my show.”
“There are so many more moments [in the show] than the ‘Juno’ positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. I can’t control that,” she added. “[But] if you come to the show, you’ll hear the ballads, you’ll hear the more introspective numbers.”
And as previously mentioned—like pretty much every female-identifying artist who proudly showcases their sensuality on-stage—Carpenter is no stranger to controversy, with her live performance at the 2025 Brit Awards back in March being a contributing factor to the award show garnering over 800 viewer complaints, as reported by the BBC.
Singing a mash-up of her hits “Espresso” and “Bed Chem,” the singer danced around the stage in a cherry red lace mini dress, thigh-high stockings and matching heels while back-up dancers in similar looks pranced around her. The performance ended with Carpenter getting...um...up close and personal with a dancer dressed as a guard, which was the source of most of the outrage.
Still, we’re officially entering a new phase in the artist’s career and her ever-evolving persona.
On June 5, Carpenter released her latest single—a country-inspired synth-pop smash titled “Manchild.” The accompanying music video leaned heavily into the “twisted humor” the singer bragged about in “Espresso” and included dreamy visuals, a Lana Del Rey-adjacent aesthetic and countless outfit changes.
Man’s Best Friend is slated for release on August 29—nearly one year to the day after the release of her Grammy-winning album Short n' Sweet—and it will certainly be fun to see how Carpenter continues to stay true to herself and her brand!
