How to Style Off Season’s Debut NBA Collection, According to Kristin Juszczyk Herself [Exclusive]

NBA fans: your new favorite outerwear hits the market today. Originally announced on Oct. 14, Off Season is extending its reign over the National Basketball Association (NBA) with its tried and true puffer jackets and vests alongside a debut cropped puffer jacket for five of the league’s franchises: the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors.
Per a release from the brand, every product in the collection (which ranges from $285 to $375) is corduroy-lined and polyester-filled. The pieces also feature the phrase “WELCOME TO THE TEAM” above its lower back hem. In addition, items include 3D silicone patches that showcase the specific franchise and the league.
Before the latest launch—which closely follows a trio of September drops, beginning with the brand’s debut WNBA collection on Sept. 4—we caught up with Off Season’s co-founder and designer, Kristin Juszczyk, to chat about the collection that she says “elevates your look completely”.
The conversation has been edited and condensed for clarity.
The collection
Off Season’s NBA Puffer Collection comes on the heels of three September expansions for the label. The apparel line released its first collection with the WNBA on Sept. 4, its Ready-to-Wear NFL collection on Sept. 9 and introduced an expanded NFL Puffer Collection on Sept. 16. And this trio of products, however, brings its own enthusiasm to the co-founder.
“I think with this specific drop, what we’re so excited for is to really bring the feeling of Off Season to the NBA,” Juszczyk told us. “We have so many more amazing things lined up for the NBA that really feel like authentic NBA gear, but what’s so exciting about this drop is that it really feels like what we’ve been doing at Off Season.”
The 31-year-old is also no stranger to the NBA sidelines. She attended NBA All-Star Weekend in the Bay Area in February, which was local to the Wife'd Up Mic'd Up host. She has been a member of the West Coast community since her 13-year NFL fullback husband, Kyle, joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2017.
“They’re the best of the best throughout the entire league,” she mentions when asked about her experience at the Chase Center for the February festivities. Then, she candidly adds, “It’s like playing video games and being able to add like all your favorite players into one game together.”
Juszczyk says that in comparison to the brand’s previous puffer jackets, the league’s puffers are “a bit of a louder design, something that, to me, just screams NBA. It screams [that] you’re so prideful of that team and of that specific area.”
She also disclosed that the label created “a spin on our specific jackets” for the October collection. “We really brought in so many elements, like the team names wrapped around the embroidery on the collar and different logos all over it. It’s really loud and, like, eclectic in its own way.”
Juszczyk’s styling tips
One thing that Juszczyk makes very clear about the NBA Puffer Collection is that every piece can be easily incorporated into its wearer’s closet. “What I love so much about these jackets and the vest is they’re so versatile,” she explains. “When we were styling them for the shoot, especially the vest, there are so many different ways you can layer it.”
So, if you’re planning on getting your hands on the label’s newest release, Juszczyk has a handful of her own styling tips. “You can make it, like, a more casual feel where you layer it over a hoodie. You could dress it up, [and wear] it over a button-up,” she says. The designer distinctly deems the vest as a “universal piece” and credits its indoor and outdoor use. “To me, it’s just like the easiest piece to throw into your wardrobe.”
However, what Juszczyk says she is “most excited for” is the brand’s new cropped puffers. “The cropped puffer jacket, specifically for the girls [...] whether you’re wearing it with basketball shorts, whether you’re wearing it with a pencil skirt, it can really go two different ways,” the co-founder explains. “You can go like a sporty feel, or you can go [with] a more sophisticated look with it.” She confidently concluded, “Depending on what you're wearing, it just elevates your look completely.”
What’s next
Off Season officially debuted its inaugural collection with the NFL at the beginning of 2025 and has taken the sports world by storm. It also doesn’t look like the label is slowing down anytime soon. “Our holistic view of the brand is that we will be having monthly drops,” Juszczyk elaborates. “We are firing on all cylinders and really trying to get this brand up and running like it’s been around for 10 years, even though we just launched in January.”
The co-founder also notes that she is taking the opportunity to lean into her creativity with the company, especially during its first year in production. “Right now, we’re still in the startup phase, right? So we’re really testing the market, seeing what works, what doesn’t work,” she says. “It’s like, we’re really in those beginning phases of seeing ‘How far can I push the needle with the designs? Is this something the sports fan would want? Is this maybe something a sports fan wouldn't want?’”
And, while she will admit that “there’s so much I didn't know” about the “business perspective” of her premiere brand, it has continued to resonate with fans, who have witnessed Juszczyk’s one-of-a-kind creations on the NFL sidelines for years. Just yesterday, she announced, its NFL line hit the shelves of select Nordstrom franchises across the country.
“I came into this [company] designing one-offs, strictly either for myself or for a specific customer,” Juszczyk reflects. “I could add all the embellishments I want. I could do all the embroidery I want. And now I’m coming from a business perspective, too. So, it’s a challenge of, like, blending both those worlds and wanting to, you know, add in all the extra fun stuff, but realizing that that stuff costs money.”
It is learning to find the happy medium, she notes, is ultimately the objective: “The balance of wanting to create something that still feels bespoke, but then also hopefully running a successful business for many years is the goal.”
