2016 style is back with a vengeance, and honestly, we’re here for it.

Since the start of the new year, our social media timelines have been flooded with throwback photo sets and videos of celebs reminiscing about the simpler times of, you know, 10 years ago. With these posts have also come plenty of nostalgia about 2016’s specific style trends, with several of these throwback pieces already appearing in recent red carpet looks as a result.

Rihanna seems to be the latest fashion-forward star to join the movement, as she just put her stamp of approval on the go-to outerwear trend of the time: we, of course, mean the bomber jacket.

Anyone old enough to remember 2016 will also certainly recall that absolutely all of us owned one of these jackets for some reason (the piece was so popular, in fact, that, according to WWD, “In 2016, the New York Times reported a ‘500 percent year-on-year increase in Google searches involving the term bomber jacket.’”). Still, you already know the brand mogul put her own luxe, modern spin on the outfit.

Joining her partner A$AP Rocky in New York City to celebrate his upcoming album Don’t Be Dumb, the artist sported a cropped olive green bomber jacket, with W Magazine reporting the item was from celeb-favorite designer brand Miu Miu. She layered the throwback item on top of a burnt orange slip dress from Saint Laurent to match her bronze Saint Laurent sandals, allowing a black lace Savage x Fenty bra top to peek out from beneath the neckline.

Replicate the look

Rihanna’s night-out look was cool, classic and—best of all—easy to replicate, even without those designer labels. The look also leaves room to add your own touches based on personal style, as all you really need to match the star is a cropped bomber jacket, a slip-style maxi dress and a lace bra top. With this in mind, we’ve curated a few similar options to get you started!

Alpha Industries: L-2B CROPPED GEN II BOMBER JACKET ($180)

We, of course, have to start building the look with the throwback piece that caught our eye in the first place. The L-2B CROPPED GEN II BOMBER JACKET from Alpha Industries mimics the same classic cut and style as the Miu Miu designed jacket the artist wore, and comes in several other shades—including black, camo and gray—should the classic olive green shade not be your top choice.

QUINCE: 100% Washable Silk Slip Dress ($89.90, on sale from $228)

In the same vein as the bomber jacket, the 100% Washable Silk Slip Dress from QUINCE replicates Rihanna’s style with plenty of color options to choose from, including a “Paprika Red,” which is similar to the burnt orange shade found in the Fenty brand founder’s outfit. According to QUINCE’s website, the dress is “100% mulberry silk, in a satin finish” and is “easy to style, easy to wash for low-maintenance luxe.”

Savage x Fenty: Romantic Corded Lace Unlined Balconette Bra ($59.95)

Fittingly, the last item for the outfit could be taken directly from Rihanna’s original look, as the bra she wore for her night out with A$AP Rocky came directly from her own Savage x Fenty line. Like the above items, the Romantic Corded Lace Unlined Balconette Bra comes in a multitude of shades to allow you to center your personal style, and, according to the brand’s website, the “lace wings are lined with power mesh, adding comfort and support to this ultra-sexy bra silhouette.”
