Sydney Sweeney Just Debuted the It Girl Hairstyle of the Season

Just under two weeks before Sydney Sweeney’s latest film, Christy, releases in theaters on Nov. 7, its 28-year-old leading lady hit the red carpet with a brand new ’do.
Sweeney, who plays International Boxing Hall of Famer Christy M. Martin, stepped onto the scene in Hollywood, Calif., for the movie’s premiere at AFI FEST in a halter neck Miu Miu gown. The garment, which hugged Sweeney’s midriff and flared below her hips, featured intricate detailing from its halter neckline to its bottom hem.
However, it was Sweeney’s ultra-short hair that seemed to turn heads. Just one week prior, she attended the Academy Museum Gala with her golden blonde waves tossed into a high bun. On Saturday, Oct. 25, the actress showcased a short icy-blonde bob that fell just below her jawline. Her longtime hairstylist, Glen Oropeza, “couldn’t be happier,” he gushed on Instagram.
Oropeza gave his followers a behind the scenes look at Sweeney’s “journey to the bob,” which he revealed was a “weeklong transformation” before the California premiere. The new style is also SI Swimsuit model approved, as Madisin Rian—who graced the fold in 2023 from the Dominican Republic—commented “Soo goood 😍🔥👌🏾.”
Haircare brand Kérastase disclosed the products that Oropeza utilized to achieve the red carpet-ready results, including a duo from its “Blond Absolu” range. The brand penned in their own post, “[Sweeney’s] blonde strands were deeply hydrated and reinforced with Blond Absolu Bain Lumière and Blond Absolu Cicaflash,” later adding in its caption that its Anti-Frizz Glaze Milk, Glaze Drops, and Mousse Bouffante were all a part of the process.
As for Sweeney’s makeup, achieved by Melissa Hernandez, the artist shared how you can complete the rosy-hued glam at home. The actress, who has also commanded television and movie screens as Cassie in Euphoria and Bea in Anyone But You, exhibited a mauve smoky eye that matched a similar-colored cheek and pout.
On Saturday, Sweeney graced the carpet with a handful of Christy castmates, including Ben Foster and Katy O’Brian, among others. Martin, herself, was all smiles on-location.
“Getting Christy right was so important,” Sweeney told Rotten Tomatoes. “I had months of training. I had boxing trainer, a weight trainer.” Later, in the clip shared to Instagram, she gushed over the opportunity to portray the renowned boxer. She declared, “Transforming into Christy has been the role of a lifetime.”
