Brooks Nader landed one of four 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue covers, marking her fifth consecutive year with the magazine in an epic way. The 26-year-old Louisiana native has returned to pose for the publication each year since winning the brand’s Swim Search in 2019.

“I’ve grown so much over the years,” Nader told SI Swimsuit of her personal and professional development while working with the franchise.

While Nader was represented by a modeling agency at the time she participated in the open casting call, she was receiving a lot of “nos” at the time—until she got an emphatic “yes” from SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day.

“And then MJ Day gives me a stamp of approval, and everyone’s like now we want to work with you,” she recalled of the quick shift. “And I’m like ‘Yeah, I told you so.’”

Nader shared that while she’s dealt with her fair share of rejection throughout her time in the industry, those tough times just made each eventual “yes” that much sweeter.

“I feel like empowerment to me is just dealing with the rejection, moving on, [and] keeping a positive attitude about it,” she shared. “And then it’s so much more worth it and empowering when you get the final ‘yes.’”
