Haley Kalil Shares Important, Uplifting ‘Reminder’ for the New Year

While a new year can spark inspiration for a rebrand, Haley Kalil advised that going after your goals isn't exclusive to the month of January. The Minnesota native, who earned a spot on Forbes’ 2025 Top Creators List last August, told her combined 25.6 million followers on Instagram and TikTok that you dreams are ready for you to act upon them whenever you're ready.
In a 17-second clip set to Ariana Grande's “Dangerous Woman,” Kalil penned on screen, “Here’s your reminder that you can reinvent your life at any time 💜.” The video, shared to both social media platforms, started off with the former Miss Minnesota USA in tears before transitioning to her beaming on the carpet of the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 11. She doubled down on the note in its caption, where she wrote, “IT GETS BETTER 💜.”
Kalil’s post, which was posted to both apps yesterday, Jan. 14, came just eight days after she detailed the catalyst to her own surging success on an episode of Not Skinny But Not Fat with host Amanda Hirsch. On the podcast, Kalil credited a viral video with Caleb Simpson in 2022—which gave an inside scoop into her New York City apartment—that ultimately caused her following to skyrocket.
“I think in, like, five hours, there was, like, 55 million views or something crazy,” Kalil recalled of the original clip. At the time, she declared, she had an audience of around 150,000. “I hit a million, like right after.” Hirsch later asked, “So you’re saying you went from about 150K to, like, one million from this apartment tour?" Kalil responded, “Yeah, like, overnight.”
However, behind the scenes, the social media personality—who graced the red carpet of the Primetime Emmy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Tony Awards and Grammy Awards, among others in 2025—told Hirsch that she was battling an abusive relationship.
“One of my exes was physically abusive,” Kalil explained on the show. “And that’s what I was going through during the apartment tour.” She also elaborated that it was the support she received from the viral video that empowered her to make a change.
“It was a hard time in my life, and I truly credit the women in my comment section [...] with saving my life,” Kalil said. She later told Hirsch, “[The apartment tour] was the first time I felt seen by women, and that made me decenter a man in my life who was doing horrible things.”
