Three-time SI Swimsuit model Josephine Skriver began pursuing modeling in 2011 and landed in campaigns for Calvin Klein, Rag & Bone, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Prada, Christian Dior and many additional brands all during her debut season.
She walked the runway for Victoria’s Secret for six consecutive years from 2013 to ’18 and earned the brand’s coveted angel wings in ’16. In a recent episode of TikToker Victoria Browne’s podcast, REAL POD, the 30-year-old opened up about her experience with the lingerie brand.
“I was 100% sure that there’s no way that [people] think looking like this is real. I would stand next to the big window billboards on the street and I could stand there for 30 minutes and not a single person would put the two people together. I don’t even look like my pictures,” the soon-to-be mom candidly explained.
“Sometimes my mom would be like, ‘Is that you? I didn’t even know you could look like this,’” she continued. “Even though [I was] shooting underwear constantly, I never really felt naked because we had like two layers of body makeup and sparkle and glitter and oil. You’re creating all these illusions, you kind of assume people are in on [the fact] that ‘no one looks like this. This is all fake.’”
Fellow model Jasmine Tookes, who was a Victoria’s Secret model from 2012 to ’18, agreed.
“You just knew you were always going to look good because you have the extra help,” the 32-year-old said.
Skriver and Tookes are longtime BFFs and cofounders of activewear brand JOJA.
