Ryan Gosling Just Issued a Sweet Birthday Surprise for Eva Mendes, and Fans Can’t Get Enough of the Public Display

Notoriously private couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes stepped into the limelight together last night, and the moment has quickly gone viral.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gosling took the opportunity to bring his partner out on stage to give her her flowers. While the 45-year-old actor was there to promote him new film, Project Hail Mary, yesterday, March 5, was also Mendes’s 52nd birthday—and Gosling made sure to get the entire studio audience in on the celebration.
In the midst of his conversation with Fallon, the Barbie star asked the audience, which was full of teachers for the evening, if they’d be willing to sing “Happy Birthday” to Mendes. A producer quickly fetched the Training Day actress from a dressing room and brought her out on stage to rounds of roaring applause. The North Bergen High School marching band then performed while the audience sang to Mendes.
“That’s all him,” Fallon said to Mendes, giving Gosling credit for the sweet public display of adoration.
The moment has quickly gone viral for a number of reasons. While fans can’t get enough of Gosling elevating his partner into the spotlight, last night’s television appearance also marks the couple’s first public appearance together in over a decade. Prior to yesterday, they last walked the red carpet together in 2013 for the premiere of their film, The Place Beyond the Pines.
“Now that’s a real partner right there. So sweet,” one person commented on the official Tonight Show Instagram post of the sweet moment.
“Ryan Gosling raised the bar of being a loving hubby 😍🔥👏,” someone else observed.
“I love how much he loves his wife ❤️,” another user gushed.
“I love their love 🥹🩷🎉,” an additional fan stated.
“Such a sweet, sweet gesture for him to do! Happy Birthday, Eva! Enjoy every moment. 😘🥳😘🥳,” one more follower noted.
“Both Jimmy and Ryan are such green flags! 💚,” read another comment.
Though Gosling and Mendes started dating in 2011, they’ve managed to keep their relationship out of the limelight—to the extent that it’s not entirely known whether or not the longtime partners are married. They share two children, Esmeralda and Amada, and Mendes has stepped away from acting for the time being to focus on raising her family. Her last role on screen was in the 2014 thriller-fantasy film Lost River, which was written and directed by Gosling.
