Sydney Sweeney Feels ‘Strong and Independent’ While Embracing Her Single Girl Era

Following Stephen Colbert’s cover reveal for GQ’s Men of the Year issue on Monday, Nov. 3,, the publication disclosed its second mogul the following morning. And, amidst the rollout of its next front page installment, the cover star isn’t a man at all.
Sydney Sweeney was unveiled on Nov. 4 as the outlet’s next front page feature, with an image of the 28-year-old actress lounging in a graphic tee, two-toned boy shorts and retro yellow-tinted aviator sunnies. She joins Colbert, along with Seth Rogen, SZA, Oscar Isaac, Clipse and Hailey Bieber with the title for 2025.
Paired with the cover image, Sweeney photographed a few more looks with the magazine. In one frame, she took the steering wheel behind an ivory vehicle. In another, she donned a luxe fur coat paired with open-toed pumps and opaque oversized glasses. Additionally, the Euphoria star chatted with the publication for a sit-down interview and gave fans a glimpse into her love life.
“I don’t think I’m looking for a man right now,” Sweeney declared, while chatting with GQ staff at West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont. “What I’ve learned this year is that I have a really, really amazing group of girlfriends and I am strong and independent and that I’m going to be O.K. If love finds me, love finds me.”
Continuing, Sweeney called herself “a hopeless romantic,” with the ultimate goal of finding an long-term partner. “I do believe in true love and wanting to be with someone for the rest of my life,” the Variety Power of Women honoree added.
Sweeney’s sentiment seems to confirm a slew of rumors surrounding the actress’s relationship status in recent months. She first publicly confirmed that her partnership with her former fiancé, Jonathan Davino, was officially over in a May 31 interview with The Times, months after speculation of their split circulated publications throughout the early spring.
Since then, the actress was spotted numerous times with music producer Scooter Braun over the summer months. More recently, on Nov. 2, Daily Mail reported that she was seen with Davino again, this time in Santa Monica.
“[Sweeney is] not exclusively dating anyone right now but is having fun with Scooter,” a source told US Weekly in early September of her status with the 44-year-old music multihyphenate. The source added that she is “in her single era without having any pressure,” aligning with the actress’s latest verification of her relationship status with GQ.
