Olivia Ponton Welcomes Bestselling Author As First Guest on ‘Booked & Busy’

Olivia Ponton subtly teased the third episode of her podcast Booked & Busy two weeks before it officially debuted on YouTube. In a Nov. 19 Instagram post, the 23-year-old model searched the shelves for a book while clutching a copy of Alex Aster’s Lightlark.
At first glance, the frame is stylish and moody and totally on-brand for Ponton, who launched the first episode of the book-focused video series on Oct. 27. However, the post now nods to the podcast’s first guest star, Aster herself.
The Lightlark Saga author chatted with Ponton on the show’s third installment, which released on YouTube on Sunday, Dec. 7. One day after its debut, the host penned to Instagram that her “heart is so full after chatting with [Aster],” calling her guest, “brilliant, thoughtful, and endlessly talented for creating the world of LightLark.” Aster gushed in the post’s comments and responded, “Love speaking to you so much 🥹💖 this was so fun!!!”
The 52-minute interview was about Aster’s creative work and delved into both The Lightlark Saga and her standalone novel, Summer in the City. Ponton also inquired about Lightlark's highly anticipated film adaptation, produced by the minds behind Twilight, which Aster will “exclusively produce,” as well, the author disclosed on Instagram with an exclusive article from The Hollywood Reporter in 2022.
“I was just in L.A., and I met with Universal, I met with, like, the producers of Twilight and all those movies that I’ve loved,” Aster told Ponton in the episode. “I’m lucky enough that everyone involved has been so talented,” the author added, later revealing that she has “read a script” for the anticipated project. At the time of publication, there is no set release date for the film; however, Aster fans have much to look forward to. She told Ponton, “I think that I’m gonna have a lot to say about the Lightlark movie in the new year. Things are happening.”
Booked & Busy listeners may also see more guest appearances in the future. Ponton began the third episode by telling its audience that author features are “a dream of [hers]” since the show’s inception, and added, “I’m honestly shocked that so many authors are so receptive to coming on.”
For now, the podcast fans have two more episodes to catch up on, if they’ve missed the series’s previously published videos. The show commenced with an inaugural episode discussing Rebecca Yarro’s Fourth Wing, followed by an episode delving into The Selection Series by Kiera Cass in the second episode.
