If you heard a deafening cheer a moment ago, worry not, dear friends—it was just the sound of millions of Olivia Rodrigo fans celebrating news of her long-awaited third album.

For weeks now, diehard fans of the Grammy Award-winning pop sensation have been decoding clues from the singer. Rodrigo began hinting at the record’s release as early as last autumn, following the final stops on her mega-popular Guts World Tour. From walls shaded pink to jokes about the recording artist “painting the moon,” there’s been plenty for fans to speculate on as they awaited official word from the woman herself—and things hit a fever pitch on Wednesday, April 1, when it was reported that Rodrigo had archived her entire Instagram page.

On Thursday, April 2, fans finally got their wish, with Rodrigo taking to Instagram to let her 39.1 million followers know that her next album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, would be dropping on June 12.

“I am so proud of this record, and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now! 🩷” Rodrigo penned in part of the post’s caption. The cover photo featured the singer-songwriter flying high on a swing into a cloudy sky. For the cinematic shot, she wore a sweet pastel pink cottagecore-inspired mini dress and shiny black Mary Jane-style heels.

The name of the album also matches up with what fans learned from British Vogue’s recent cover story interview with Rodrigo, where the magazine reported, “The fan theories were right: these are all love songs, but specifically about the obsession and anxiety of it—or the depression when your lover is gone.” Rodrigo then expanded on this concept, telling the outlet, “I realized all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.”

Fans and famous friends react to Rodrigo’s news

At the time of this article’s publication—despite being shared just one hour ago—Rodrigo’s announcement post has over 1.7 million likes. One peek at the comment section quickly shows just how excited not only her fans but her famous friends are for the new release.

“💞💞💞💞💕💕💕💕💝💝💝💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💝💝💝💝💞💞💝💞💝💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 need it now!” Addison Rae wrote.
