Olivia Rodrigo Just Officially Confirmed She’s Working on Her Third Album

Fans rejoice: ‘OR3’ is on the way!

Olivia Rodrigo fans, rejoice! After much speculation (and some Easter egg-deciphering), the pop sensation has officially confirmed new music is on the way.

The artist sat down with American Express this week for their Amex Platinum Presents: “There’s Nothing Like It” YouTube series, where she reminisced about her travels during the GUTS World Tour, and also shared that she’s been working on her third studio album—a project she fans believe she’s been dropping hints for.

1960s chic style

For the chat, Rodrigo sat on a cozy-looking sapphire sofa in an outfit that positively screamed 1960s chic.

Her black mini skirt was the perfect length to fit the reemerging mod aesthetic, and she completed the ensemble with a high-neckline tank featuring colorful, chaotic patterns running down the front. She accessorized with a couple of classic bangle bracelets, and her footwear was an autumn closet staple: a pair of tan knee-high boots.

Her signature dark hair was left down, curled and parted in the center, further amplifying the groovy vibes. Her glam was also decidedly different from her usual rock n’ roll red lip, with the artist instead opting for matte skin, fluffy eyelashes and a glossy pink lip.

OR3 is on the way

In the three-minute clip, the artist showed off several Polaroid snapshots featuring standout moments from her recent tour, walking viewers through some of her favorites. She then chatted a little about her fans and how their unwavering passion for her music inspires her to write even more.

She also revealed her favorite meals while working on her previous two albums, saying that she loved “burritos” while working on SOUR, but preferred “bean and cheese tacos” while working on GUTS, joking that she must have been on a “Mexican food grind” at the time. Then, she hinted at the incoming announcement, saying, “[But] this time, it’s salmon. Love salmon. I’m getting healthier as I get older.”

The artist finally confirmed the speculation in no uncertain terms at the end of the video, outright stating, “Now I’m home, and I’m working on my new album.” And as if that news alone weren't enough to get fans excited, she also hinted at a “special performance” coming up “very soon,” but coyly added she didn’t want to “give too much away.”

Previous hints

As stated above, fans of Rodrigo have long been convinced that album number three was on the way, pointing to several clues the artist seemed to drop during her time on the festival circuit.

During her headlining performance at the Osheaga festival back on Aug. 3, she wore a bright red crop top with a bedazzled “3” written on the front. Then, after her set ended, she took off her signature “G.U.T.S.” rings and handed them out to the audience, later posting a video on TikTok, captioning the clip, “rings off!!!!! that’s a wrap on guts tour!!! until next time I love y’all💋🎸🎂.” Many fans saw this as the official closing of her GUTS album era.

She also hid the number “3” in her newsletter several times, and changed the logo on her website from her signature purple—which she’s had for the last two albums—to a deep red.

Needless to say, we’ll be counting down the days until there’s more news (and for that “very special” performance)!
