Pedro Pascal has finally shed some light on the nature of his relationship with The Fantastic Four: First Steps co-star Vanessa Kirby, as well as why having someone on his side with whom he shares a lot in common is important—especially in the entertainment industry.

The 50-year-old Chilean-American actor and his three Marvel movie co-stars—Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn and Kirby—all sat down for an interview with Jake Hamilton for an episode of Jake’s Takes. There, Pascal was asked how his friendship with Kirby has affected him and what it means to him, and the actor opened up more about the nature of their sweet friendship.

“We’re always holding hands when we’re off the carpet, by the way,” Pascal corrected after the host noted the two are often spotted holding hands on the red carpet. Pascal then went more in-depth about how Kirby helped him land the role of Mr. Fantastic, saying, “Vanessa was incredible to me when I got the part. They were all cast already.”

Pascal also noted that Kirby in specific “must have been really curious” about who was going to be cast as Reed Richards, as her character Sue Storm would be in a relationship with whoever landed that role, adding, “So, when it was decided upon—she advocated on my behalf to get the part and everything—I was one: incredibly grateful, two: a huge fan and then I think that we really, really see each other and ourselves in terms of our care for what we do, our care for one another and our mutual fears.”

Continuing to gush about their friendship and how much he and Kirby share in common, Pascal explained, “I just think that we’re very, very similar. So when you’re thrown into a very heightened environment, we were there to always remind each other that we’re not alone. That we’re in this together. We’re all in this together. [...] It’s scary to go in front of cameras and do things. It’s also really fun, so we’re always grabbing onto one another to remind each other that we’re not alone in any of it.”

And—even though filming for the superhero title began back in July 2024 and post-production concluded in April 2025—Pascal, Kirby and the rest of the cast were constantly in each other’s vicinities. Given that the two spent plenty of time together hanging out off-camera while also playing a married couple on-camera, it makes sense that they’d form a beautiful bond!
