Sydney Sweeney, Olivia Rodrigo and More Striking Celeb Looks From GQ’s ‘Man of the Year’ Event

In case you missed it, GQ debuted its annual “Man of the Year” issue this week, with model, mogul and mama Hailey Bieber on one of the covers and many fan favorite celebrities featured on the pages.
Naturally, the brand threw a stylish launch party to celebrate the occasion, and the red carpet for the event was basically its own constellation—because there were so many stars! From striking all-black ensembles to sheer numbers to structured corsets, it was more of a runway than a red carpet as the celebs tackled the 1995 theme to celebrate 30 years of the issue.
With that in mind, here are just a few of our favorite looks from the star-studded evening.
Olivia Rodrigo
Taking a quick break from working on her highly anticipated third album in the studio, Rodrigo stepped out in a sparkling Chanel number for the event. The gown was a rich sapphire shade, with a cut that positively screamed late ‘90s—and her messy bun and grunge-inspired maroon lip only further drove home that nostalgic aesthetic.
Shay Mitchell
The actress and brand mogul merged the popular corpcore trend with a little Bridgerton-core (listen, if that’s not already a thing...we’re making it a thing) with her silky black wide-legged pants and a structured corset top. Still, our favorite part has to be the incredible smoky eye, proving that even a look with all neutrals can be punched up to “sultry” status.
Hailey Bieber
The woman of the hour and one of the cover stars for GQ’s Man of the Year issue, Bieber was a vision in her sheer black Gucci gown. With a daring halter-style neckline and plunging back, the rhode brand founder also appeared to reference an iconic Gillian Anderson look with this red carpet moment, thanks to the thong-style detailing on her lower back.
Lizzo
Taking a break from the darker shades and jewel tones, Lizzo brightened things up with a stunning silk moment. Her cream-colored midi dress was a classic Ralph Lauren piece, which she let shine with minimal accessories, including a matching diamond choker and dangling earrings. While the ensemble might have been simple-chic, her makeup was extravagant—and we’re going to need to know where she got that burgundy lip from immediately (our inboxes are open, Lizzo, please!).
Sydney Sweeney
“Obsessed” would be an understatement when describing how we feel about this breathtaking look on Sweeney. Her vintage black velvet Versace gown is a runway classic, and the entire vibe of the ensemble is an immaculate mix of ‘90s rock n’ roll superstar and vampire queen who’s very much on the hunt. We especially love the messy-but-methodical hair, which channels some serious cool-girl energy.
Coco Jones
Also rocking a corset look was Jones, who gave her version a feminine flair with a fitted mermaid skirt and a uniquely angled neckline. Her soft brown hair was parted down the middle for a timeless look, while her glam was equal parts bright and muted, with eyelashes that reached for the heavens—and looked positively angelic in the process.
Madison Beer
Beer took to the red carpet in a classic black number by Georges Hobeika, featuring a structured sweetheart-style neckline and a sultry sky-high slit. With her luxurious cocoa brown tresses perfectly blown out and her dramatic makeup, the singer was serving up some classic Megan Fox in the late ‘00s vibes.
Rachel Sennott
Going in the opposite direction of the all-black looks was Sennott, who instead opted for an exciting explosion of florals with her Chloe mini dress, which also featured delicate lace detailing at the top. Adding a touch of sensuality with her sheer black tights and classic pumps, the actress was a welcome pop of color on the red carpet.
Quenlin Blackwell
Last but absolutely never least, the model donned vintage Mugler as she not only walked the red carpet but also hosted the event and interviewed her fellow attendees. Like Mitchell, Blackwell wore a fun take on the corpcore trend, with the fitted cream-colored designer two-piece set channeling working-girl energy in the best way possible, courtesy of the dramatic silhouette, popped collar and thin belt.
