We’re inching towards the conclusion of Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 as couples and singles are sent home each week. In case you missed it, contestants this season were in for a serious surprise a few episodes back when learning there’s now a competition twist this time around—compatibility challenges, which lead to more eliminations. Half a million dollars is on the line, meaning this isn’t just about finding love anymore.

While this has strengthened some romances, it’s also united unexpected allies. Contestants Lea and Jonathon, for example, are using this advantage to win the money in the end without actually pursuing a relationship. Of course, couples like Spencer and Jess are still going strong, and we’d have to assume they might just get engaged at the end of this. For anyone else, though, we could see anything happening. It is Paradise, after all.

Recap

As tonight’s episode opens, the remaining contestants take some time to reflect on the state of the resort. Brian feels that everyone is against him right now, while others analyze how strong the other couples are. It doesn’t take long for Hannah Brown and Jesse Palmer show up to announce the next relationship test, this time called “Treasure Hunt.”

One half of the couple will be searching for treasure, while their partner will be buried in a treasure chest. The one buried will have to give the hunter clues through a walkie-talkie, and they only have 30 minutes to figure it out. The woman of the couple who wins will get to hand out the first rose at this week’s rose ceremony.

Jesse also announces that the contestants will vote as a group on two women who will not be handing out roses tonight, news that shocks everyone.

While the challenge already seemed tough, it’s not until they start playing that they realize just how difficult it is. The walkie-talkies start cutting out, unfamiliar words are thrown around and patience wanes. In the end, Spencer and Jess win the challenge, and they’re, of course, ecstatic.

Back at the hotel, contestants address that there are two couples who aren’t in a romantic relationship: Keith and Kathy and Jonathan and Alexe. Of course, the couples don’t think they should be here if they’re only in it for the money. But these conversations are cut short by Jeremy’s birthday celebrations.

Later on, Lea gets in her feelings and tells Jonathon she’s disappointed she didn’t find love on the show.

After winning the relationship challenge, Spencer and Jess get to go on a one-on-one date, while Sean and Allyshia start to get strategic. But as Sean goes around confiding in others, the remaining contestants watch every minute and get annoyed. Brian even confronts Sean and calls him out for asking others to vote for him and Allyshia, and Sean claims it’s “nothing personal.”

Sean continues to scheme, even calling his plan the “parliament of Paradise.” In more heartfelt news, Spencer and Jess tell each other that they’re falling in love with each other during their date. Meanwhile, as Sean tries to form alliances out in the open, others do it secretly. Lea wants Parisa and Allyshia to go home, while Spencer declares he will do anything he can to send Sean home.

Allyshia overhears some of the women whispering about her and Sean, which hurts her feelings.

At the cocktail party, Allyshia expresses her disappointment to Sean over his strategizing, revealing that the other contestants don’t trust him anymore. Brian and Jeremy make amends, while Kat asks Dale to be her boyfriend, and he agrees.

Allyshia then initiates a girl chat with Bailey, Alexe and Parisa, telling them that she’s upset she overheard them whispering about her. The women explain that they didn’t want to bring up the Sean issue to her without being sure it was worth it, and Allyshia says she trusts them.

Sean and Kat then have a conversation on where they stand as friends, with Kat admitting that she’s having trust issues after his alliance scheme. Sean gets very defensive, telling her that he’s defended her to others, and they get heated. In his confessional, Sean goes off about Kat, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be making up anytime soon.

Eliminations and rose ceremony

At the end of the episode, everyone votes for which two women they think should go home. But before we learn which woman gets the final rose to give out, Allyshia interrupts Jesse to deliver the news that she and Sean have decided to leave together on their own accord and pursue their relationship outside of the show.

“There are snakes in the grass, and I think it’s time to mow the lawn,” Allyshia says in her confessional, while Sean declares to the group that they’ve voted off the best couple. The rest of the contestants are left very confused.

So, in the end, only one couple is eliminated, and that would be Parisa and Brian. And, no surprises here, but here are the pairings during the rose ceremony:

  • Jess and Spencer
  • Alexe and Andrew
  • Kathy and Keith
  • Bailey and Jeremy
  • Lea and Jonathon

What happened last week

Last week, much of the episode revolved around drama surrounding Brian, Bailey and Jonathan. During the challenge, contestants got the chance to have a “secret rendezvous” with another person they weren’t coupled up with, and Brian used this opportunity to get something off his chest. Yes, he’s still committed to Parisa, don’t worry, but he had a confession for Bailey.

Eventually, he delivered the news to Bailey that Jeremy wanted Susie to come back to Paradise and that he said he would propose to her if she did. This, of course, was devastating for Bailey to hear. Jeremy admitted to her that he called Susie, but denied everything else, and the episode ended with them in a good place. The rest of the resort, however, is now frustrated with Brian for telling Bailey what happened.

Jeremy ended up confronting Brian about it, telling him it was against “bro code” for him to tell Bailey. At the rose ceremony, Kim and Faith were the couple eliminated.

New episodes of Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 air every Monday night on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu. The finale is scheduled for early September.
